The Entertainment District is bursting with condo developments, from Theatre Park to Pinnacle on Adelaide. With all of these projects going on, most just holes in the ground for now, we thought it would be a good time to revisit and update you on one of the projects that’s nearing its completion date.

Cinema Tower, the 43-storey condominium by The Daniels Corporation, is gaining quite a bit of momentum in the race to the finished product. Since our last update, tons of progress has been made on both interiors and exteriors, courtesy of Kirkor Architects.

Glazing is now visible along the Widmer Street podium frontage, which will be home to both the condominium lobby entrance and the 6,000 square-foot Artscape performance space. The lobby will be fully naturally lit, with high ceilings and massive support columns which will serve as a common front entrance for residents of the 444 condominium units above.

One of four internal elevators is now operational, with the remaining three to follow one at a time over two-week intervals. Consequently, the external construction hoists are expected to be disassembled in the coming weeks.

The amenities are coming along well too! On the sixth floor, amenities will include an intimate lounge atop the podium roof, marked by the recently poured swooping canopy roof above. 6th floor amenities will also feature a TIFF screening room, a hot tub and sauna, fitness rooms and a full-size basketball court.

Below is a photo of the future gym at Cinema Tower:

Metal brackets can now be seen along the edges of the canopy, in preparation for the installation of aluminum cladding panels.

Up on the 26th floor, some of the units were recently dry walled. Installation of appliances and unit features will follow soon.

Living in the City of Toronto can be expensive. Especially for those who may not yet have the financial wherewithal to purchase a condo. That’s why The Daniels Corporation is offering a Rent2Own Program at Cinema Tower.

With occupancy set for summer 2013, this homeownership program gives folks the opportunity to not only reserve a suite at this 43-storey Kirkor Architects-designed tower located in the heart of the Entertainment District, but it also enables them to become first time homeowners.

Here’s how it works:

1) Choose a suite, sign an Agreement of Purchase and Sale and begin accumulating your down payment through Daniels’ Gradual Deposit Payment Plan.

2) When you move in, a portion of your monthly payment, along with total amount accumulated through the Gradual Deposit Payment Plan, will be credited towards your 5% down payment.

3) After one year, all that remains is to top off your 5% down payment for your closing.

If that doesn’t swing it for you, consider these perks: 3-year TIFF and 1-year BIXI Toronto bike memberships!

With this special round of sales, interested parties can register now for Rent2Own seminars on Cinema Tower’s website. You can also contact us today if you would like more information.

For those of you who haven’t already stopped by Dark Horse café’s newest location- well, what are you waiting for? Toronto is saturated with independent coffee shops and cafés, but even more so with Starbucks and Second Cups- there seems to be one at every corner, doesn’t there? The only area of Toronto that truly could use a great little coffee shop is the Financial District- that niche hasn’t been tapped out quite like other neighbourhoods. So when Dark Horse Café set up their newest location there last year, it was welcomed warmly.

On John Street between Richmond and Adelaide, Dark Horse is tucked away in the lower-level space formerly occupied by Smokeless Joe. Easy to miss, you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for this place, as advertisement of its location outside isn’t very extensive.

Inside, patrons will enjoy the rustic and authentic feel to Dark Horse, with its characteristic pressed tin ceiling, dark red walls, and wood trim. However, seating only fits about fifteen, so this location may be best for a quick grab-and-go. Existing seating includes a long bar with stools and a few larger tables at the front.

The menu includes 49th Parallel Epic Espresso and Detour blends, baked goods from Circles and Squares, Desmong & Beatrice, and other local bakers. They’ve also incorporated a hot Panini and soup feature to the menu, for those who’d like to grab a bite with their espresso!

Stop by Dark Horse café on your way to work tomorrow, and pick up a piping hot Americano!

If you thought the Hobbit movie trailer was exciting, then you’ll be thrilled with the recent developments at Cinema Tower. For those anticipating the arrival of The Daniels Corporation’s latest creation we have a few updates on the development as well the amenities it offers. This 42-storey Kirkor Architects-designed building is nearing the end of construction with projected first occupancy in summer 2013.

Cinema Tower won’t be just any condo. Aside from the standard amenities offered by most condos such as a full court gym and fitness centre, podium-top terrace (where the swooping concrete roof of the podium-top amenities floor is under construction), lounges and a steam room, condo owners will also receive the perks of an entertainment complex.

Along with the perks of owning one of Cinema Tower’s 444 units (which range in size from 421 to 1,503 sq. ft. with 9’ ceilings throughout) and 22 top quality condo suites, future condo owners will also receive a free membership to the TIFF Bell Lightbox which includes access to advance ticket sales for TIFF with admission to a state-of-the-art residents-only screening room (that isn’t available to the general public).

In general, too, residents of Cinema Tower will enjoy the perks of living in the heart of the Entertainment District. So in, Hunter S Thompson’s words “buy the ticket, take the ride.”

If you’re interested in learning more about this building, please contact Team Axon today. We’d love to help you out!

With an undeniably prime location in the city, Cinema Tower will be the new hotspot. Located literally steps away from both the Scotiabank Theatre and the TIFF Bell Lightbox, future residents can check out their new pad. Afterward, it would be a no brainer to visit the James Bond exhibit and take in a screening of the latest blockbuster hit, Skyfall.

James Bond has made an impact on the world of fashion, travel, technology, and of course, spy culture. In 1962, Sean Connery captured the world when he uttered the infamous phrase, “Bond, James Bond.” Now, 50 years later, Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style is an exhibit that has been leaving viewers speechless, in a good way. Featuring those nifty gadgets, original costumes, storyboards, and insights into the world of Mr. Bond, Fifty Years of Bond Style is the largest exhibition completely devoted to the Bond franchise.

Running from now until January 20th, admission is $15, $12 for students and seniors, and $10.50 for children. If you wish, 45 minute tours (at no extra charge) are offered on Thursday at 6PM, Saturday at 11AM and 6PM, and Sundays at 12PM. Once you’re prepared to think like a spy, head over to the Scotiabank theatre located at 259 Richmond Street West to see Daniel Craig in action in the newest Bond film, Skyfall. Now the only thing you need to worry about is your martini order. Remember, shaken, not stirred.

Last Saturday morning, one of our staffers took this great shot of the construction at Cinema Tower from Soho St. just north of Queen St. W.

In the foreground, we can see some of the shops that line the Queen West strip, just a five minute walk from Cinema.

Just south of Cinema Tower is Festival Tower (also pictured) and the adjoining tiff Bell Lightbox, which features great cinematic programming, a film library, two Oliver & Bonacini restaurants – Luma and Canteen, and much more. Residents of Cinema Tower will be eligible for perks related to the tiff Bell Lightbox and other events during each year’s film festival.

Besides its incredible location, Cinema Tower will also offer residents a wide array of exciting amenities at its “Club Cinematheque,” including: a full court gym, an Urban Terrace lounge, and a state-of-the-art screening room.

But that’s not all Cinema Tower has to offer its residents, so if you’re interested in learning more about this exciting project, we urge you to contact us today!

Call us at (416) 929-1660 or contact us via email at resupport@axoncapitalrealty.com. We’d be happy to help you learn more about your options at this fantastic building!

Since our last construction update, Cinema Tower has changed quite a bit. Not only has it grown in height, but it has become more colourful as well. The podium is coloured by terra cotta pre-cast panels. Further up, the tower itself is starting to be clad with lichen and cream colored panel frame windows. We’re highly anticipating the addition of a bright orange aluminum panel along the side of the building.

It now stands at 24 storeys, a little more than halfway to its final height of 43. The building will house a total of 444 units and feature world-class amenities.
